MYSTERY SKYPE
A great website for first timers: What Is Mystery Skype?
Last year, I decided to open up the walls of my classroom and introduce my students to the rest of the big, beautiful world! Since then, we have video chatted with 9 states and 8 countries. We use Skype, Google Hangouts, and Facebook Video Chat in order to connect with all the world. Use whatever is easiest. Mystery Skype is just the catchy name for it all.
I love the website link above because it really describes the different skills and roles necessary to run a Mystery Skype successfully. I've seen this done with kindergarten through adults, and it's equally loved across the board. You'll be shocked how easily you can find contacts all over the world just by asking on Twitter & Google+ communities, but the number one way I find contacts -- asking my friends on Facebook. Nowadays, you know enough people who know enough people. We're all connected now, so connect your classroom, too!
Oh yeah, don't forget to message me if you'd like to connect with one of my classrooms!
