Hi, my name is Sophie! I'm a Gifted teacher and elementary instructional coach in Chillicothe, MO. Welcome to my Global Education Guide. Global education does not refer to the practice of teaching around the world, but rather, it indicates a strategic approach to instruction. One in which the teacher utilizes resources and perspectives and connections beyond their own community and country.
This site contains three major components -- World Studies, Travel Blog, and Teacher Resources. You can access these sections directly above on the three links or at the very top of the page in the dropdown menu. I've created this Guide to be a resource to me but also to my colleagues. I learned so many revolutionary and powerful ideas during my Fulbright Fellowship. This Guide is one place to compile all that learning and also to share it with any colleague who is interested in utilizing more global education. Here's what you should know as you search for resources:
Study page -- This page, called Sophie's GlobalEd ABCs, contains my suggestions for digital tools, definitions of global competencies, organizations in this field, tools for global assessment, and other elements for a foundational understanding of global education.
Travel page -- Eventually, this page, called Sophie's Wild Ride, will include my international field experience blog, but that trip has been postponed due to the Covid Pandemic. Until then, I plan to post here occasionally about my own experiences with teaching in a Covid-era environment.
Teach page -- Most likely, this will be your most used page, called Sophie's Teaching Tools, as it contains the global ed learning resources I have accumulated as well as local resources for Midwesterners, the global education lessons I make, and popular global learning standards.
